Valenciaport recorded positive growth in import and export activity in August 2026, reinforcing its role as a gateway for the Spanish economy, while transshipment traffic fell, weighing on overall container figures for the month.
Full export containers loaded at Valenciaport’s docks reached 78,614 TEUs, a 7.14% increase on August 2025, while full import containers totalled 94,888 TEUs, up 6.30%.
Transit maritime traffic, however, declined 10.78%, pulling the overall container total for the month down 4.16% to 467,089 TEUs compared to the same month last year.
Year-to-date through August, Valenciaport has handled a cumulative 3,746,208 TEUs, a 1.70 percent decrease, while the trailing twelve-month figure stands at 5,597,849 TEUs, down 0.74 percent.
In tonnage terms, August cargo reached 6,397,007 tonnes, up 1.33% year-on-year. Year-to-date tonnage through August totalled 52,647,748 tonnes, down 2.63%, while the twelve-month rolling figure stood at 78,640,694 tonnes, down 2.28%.
Bulk cargo and non-containerised general cargo delivered positive results. Liquid bulk grew 6.14 percent to 2.65 million tonnes, dry bulk rose 1.61 percent to 1.6 million tonnes, and non-containerised general cargo increased 2.53 percent to 10.75 million tonnes, indicating broad underlying trade activity beyond the container segment.
