The Port of Long Beach handled 919,992 TEUs in August 2026, the busiest August on record and the fifth-strongest single month in the port’s 115-year history, representing a 2% increase compared to August 2025.
The result was announced jointly by Port CEO Dr Noel Hacegaba and Captain Stacey Crecy, commander of US Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach.
Imports rose 3.6% to 456,100 TEUs, exports increased 4 percent to 99,754 TEUs and empty containers edged down 0.39% to 364,138 TEUs.
Through the first eight months of 2026, the Port of Long Beach has handled 6,678,078 TEUs, up 1.3% compared to the same period last year.
Hacegaba described the August figures as evidence that shippers continue to adapt to tariffs and geopolitical uncertainty while maintaining confidence in the port’s ability to deliver, characterising Long Beach as a safe and secure gateway that customers can rely on.
