Cisco and PSA Singapore have announced a strategic collaboration to develop a proof of concept for an AI-powered observability and incident management platform at Tuas Port, the world’s largest fully automated container terminal.
The initiative is part of Cisco’s Country Digital Acceleration programme, through which Cisco partners with public and private sector organisations to advance national digitalisation priorities and support Singapore’s digital agenda.
The platform will unify real-time performance data from PSA’s applications, infrastructure and networking systems into a central view, using AI to map how different services and infrastructure interact.
This enables technical teams to quickly identify affected services during an incident, diagnose root causes and receive real-time resolution recommendations.
Built-in cloud-native security capabilities protect critical port infrastructure against modern threats, preventing unauthorised access and flagging unusual network activity.
The collaboration addresses a pressing operational challenge in modern port environments. Cisco research indicates that the average annual cost of downtime per organisation has reached US$ 300 million, with outages affecting critical systems such as the Terminal Operating System potentially disrupting cargo movement, storage and tracking at scale.
The platform is designed to reduce and ultimately pre-empt such unplanned outages.
The platform will be implemented first at the Tuas Port Phase 2 Living Lab, providing a real-world environment to test, validate and refine innovations supporting the port’s continued development toward full completion in the 2040s.
Nelson Quek, Regional CEO Southeast Asia at PSA International, described digital resilience as fundamental to the reliability and efficiency of global supply chains, framing the Cisco collaboration as reflecting a shared commitment to advancing innovation while reinforcing Singapore’s position as a trusted global trade hub.
Bee Kheng Tay, President ASEAN at Cisco, highlighted the need for organisations managing complex critical infrastructure to see, understand and act across their entire technology stack in real time.
