Gävle Hamn AB has signed a new 25-year agreement with VAROPreem Sverige, giving both parties long-term stability and predictability.
The agreement covers land for terminal operations and sets the framework for VAROPreem’s long-term use of the port’s land, facilities and infrastructure. It builds on a partnership that dates back to the early 1960s.
The Gävle terminal is an important part of VAROPreem’s Swedish terminal network. Located in a region with a strong industrial base and with access to port and rail infrastructure, it supports reliable and efficient distribution over a wide area.
It serves customers in the Gävle and Dalarna regions and can also reach areas further north and parts of the Stockholm region. Its location and infrastructure also open up possibilities for future development related to renewable fuels.
Fredrik Svanbom, CEO of Gävle Hamn AB, described the agreement as a clear and stable foundation for continued cooperation and development, and called VAROPreem an important operator at the port.
Sofia Sundström, VP Terminals at VAROPreem, said the long-term perspective will allow the company to keep developing its operations in Gävle, and that the terminal’s strategic location, infrastructure and port connection will keep it important as the energy system evolves.
