Great Abidjan completed a record-breaking call at the Port of Tema on 2 August.
According to Grimaldi Group, the call set a new operational benchmark for its Deep Sea East Asia–South Africa–West Africa service.
During the call, Great Abidjan discharged:
The operation demonstrated the service’s capacity to support cargo movements between Asia and Africa.
The East Asia–South Africa–West Africa service operates every two weeks.
It offers the following direct transit times:
The service connects major Chinese industrial and ro-ro manufacturing hubs with South Africa, Nigeria and Ghana.
Moreover, the PTML hub in Nigeria extends the service’s coverage across West Africa. Through this hub, the network serves ports between Casablanca and Luanda.
Grimaldi Group deploys its latest-generation G5-class vessels on the service.
The vessels combine high cargo capacity with improved environmental performance. According to the company, their design can reduce CO₂ emissions per transported tonne by up to 43%.
The Tema call marks another operational milestone for Grimaldi Group’s service between Asia and Africa.
