Piraeus Port Authority (PPA) and the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in research, technology and sustainable port development.
The agreement establishes a long-term partnership between the port operator and Greece’s leading engineering university.
The two sides will work together on smart port technologies, digital transformation, environmental sustainability, maritime safety and logistics.
The partnership also includes joint research projects, knowledge exchange and educational initiatives. The goal is to develop new technologies and support innovation in the maritime sector.
“Our cooperation with the National Technical University of Athens marks an important step in strengthening the connection between academia and the port industry,” said Han Chao, Chairman of PPA. “By combining NTUA’s scientific expertise with PPA’s operational experience, we can develop advanced solutions that support the sustainable development of the Port of Piraeus.”
PPA said the agreement supports its strategy to modernize the Port of Piraeus through partnerships that improve competitiveness, promote sustainable growth and create long-term value for the Greek maritime sector.
NTUA said it will contribute its scientific expertise and research capabilities to help develop innovative solutions for the evolving needs of the port industry.
The memorandum marks the beginning of a long-term collaboration aimed at advancing research, technology and innovation for the benefit of the Port of Piraeus and the wider Greek economy.
