Port of Tallinn secures new loan to refinance existing bonds

AS Tallinna Sadam, the operator of the Port of Tallinn, has signed a €50 million loan agreement with Swedbank to refinance existing debt obligations.

The Estonian port operator announced the agreement on October 26, 2026. The unsecured loan has a five-year maturity and carries an interest rate based on the three-month Euribor plus an additional margin.

According to the company, the full €50 million will be drawn on October 26, 2026. The loan will mature on October 26, 2031.

Tallinna Sadam plans to use the proceeds to redeem existing bonds with a total value of €50.4 million on their scheduled redemption date.

The transaction will therefore support the refinancing of existing financial obligations rather than fund new port infrastructure investments.

Tallinna Sadam operates one of the largest cargo and passenger port complexes in the Baltic Sea region.

In addition to its port activities, the group provides maritime services through several subsidiaries.

OÜ TS Laevad operates ferry connections between mainland Estonia and the country’s largest islands. Meanwhile, OÜ TS Shipping charters the multifunctional vessel Botnica for icebreaking and offshore operations in Estonia and international markets.

The group also holds a stake in AS Green Marine, which provides waste management services.

The latest financing agreement allows Tallinna Sadam to address its upcoming bond redemption through a new five-year bank loan.

However, the company has not disclosed the interest margin applied above the three-month Euribor or provided further details about the overall financing cost.
