The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore has commenced a series of public and industry consultation sessions to co-create the Maritime Singapore Master Plan, an industry-wide blueprint charting the next phase of Singapore’s maritime development.
The Master Plan, announced during the Ministry of Transport’s Committee of Supply Debate in March 2026, is targeted for release in 2027.
Senior Minister of State Murali Pillai participated in a focus group discussion with students, parents, educators, career counsellors and community groups to explore aspirations for Maritime Singapore and opportunities for meaningful maritime careers, forming part of the broader consultation process designed to gather perspectives from across society and industry.
The Master Plan will outline strategies across four principal areas: strengthening Singapore’s competitiveness as a key node and hub port, enhancing its attractiveness as an International Maritime Centre, establishing Singapore as a global leader in maritime innovation including artificial intelligence, and developing a future-ready maritime workforce.
The consultations reflect the need to refresh Singapore’s longer-term maritime strategies as the sector evolves amid changing global trade patterns, technological advances and the energy transition, with the aim of securing good growth for maritime businesses and good jobs for Singaporeans.
