YILPORT Holding has increased yard productivity at its Gebze Terminal in Türkiye by 21% following the deployment of Kaleris’ RTG Optimization technology.
The improvement was recorded within three months and reflects an increase in moves per hour across the terminal’s fleet of 31 rubber-tired gantry (RTG) cranes.
Before the deployment, YILPORT was looking to improve the performance of its existing RTG fleet without investing in additional equipment.
The Kaleris system analyzes demand across vessel, truck and yard operations in real time. It then recommends how RTGs should be deployed, helping operators balance workloads and reduce unnecessary crane movements and idle time.
At Gebze, the technology works alongside the existing Kaleris N4 Terminal Operating System. The terminal also uses electrified RTGs and optical character recognition technology.
YILPORT said the deployment has helped standardize dispatching decisions while allowing the terminal to handle more moves with its existing equipment.
Following the results at Gebze, YILPORT plans to introduce the RTG optimization system at three more terminals in Europe.
The next deployments are planned for Liscont and Leixões in Portugal and Gävle in Sweden. The expansion will also cover remote-controlled automated RTGs at these terminals.
