DP World has named its first methanol dual-fuel containership, DP World London, at a ceremony in Aarhus, Denmark.
The 1,250 TEU vessel will operate on a North Europe service. Its introduction marks another step in DP World’s investment in lower-emission maritime transport.
DP World London was built in China and delivered in April 2026.
The vessel is owned by Germany’s Elbdeich Reederei. DP World’s Shipping Solutions business operates the ship under the Portuguese flag.
The containership is 148 metres long and has a capacity of 1,250 TEUs.
It is equipped with a five-cylinder main engine and can operate using methanol. The vessel also features Exhaust Gas Recirculation technology to help reduce emissions.
The vessel completed its first methanol bunkering in Rotterdam on 25 June 2026.
Unibarge was the bunkering partner, while Methanex supplied the methanol.
DP World said the new vessel will support its efforts to offer more sustainable shipping solutions.

He said the new vessel demonstrates DP World’s investment in practical technologies that can provide lower-emission transport.
DP World chose Aarhus for the naming ceremony because of the city’s connection with its Shipping Solutions business.
The operation was founded in Aarhus as Unifeeder in 1977. It has since developed into a feeder and shortsea operator serving Europe and other markets.
Today, Shipping Solutions forms part of DP World’s wider Marine Services business.

The introduction of DP World London follows the recent addition of DP World Indus to DP World’s coastal shipping fleet in India.
