The Port of Vibo Valentia Marina has launched a €1.5 million tender to redevelop part of the port for logistics activities.
The project will demolish the former Civam industrial building. The cleared area will then be converted into new yards for port logistics.
The Port System Authority of the Southern Tyrrhenian and Ionian Seas expects construction to begin in the first half of October 2026.
The former Civam building currently occupies an area close to the Bengasi quay.
Under the project, the old industrial structure will be completely demolished.
New paved areas will then be developed for logistics operations. Their location near the quay is expected to improve the port’s commercial activities and operational efficiency.
The project has a total value of €1.5 million.
The successful contractor will have 180 days from the handover of the site to complete the works.
Companies have until 12:00 on 5 October 2026 to submit their bids.
The feasibility project was approved in July.
Port Authority President Paolo Piacenza then approved the executive project on 10 August. The publication of the tender now clears the way for the next stage.
“The rapid pace at which we are moving forward with this project demonstrates the Authority’s determination to turn planning into concrete results,” said Piacenza.
He added that the new logistics area would strengthen the port’s competitiveness and create further development opportunities.
The project forms part of the Port Authority’s 2026-2028 Three-Year Operational Plan, adopted on 18 June.
The wider programme includes investments aimed at improving port infrastructure and navigation safety.
It also seeks to strengthen Vibo Valentia Marina’s role in supporting commercial and logistics activities in the surrounding region.
