Maersk introduces landbridge surcharge for Saudi Arabia cargo

Maersk has introduced an Intransit/Landbridge Haulage surcharge (IT1) for shipments from the Far East and Oceania to selected destinations in Saudi Arabia.

The surcharge applies to cargo destined for Dammam, the Dammam Free Zone Bonded Area and Riyadh. It covers the trucking movement from Sharjah (SHJ) to Khor Fakkan (KHO).

The new charges took effect on 22 August 2026.

Maersk noted that feeder-related charges will remain part of the ocean freight component. However, those charges remain subject to change.
