The Port of HaminaKotka handled 6.31 million tonnes of cargo during the first six months of 2026, a 11.4% decrease compared with the same period last year.
Exports reached 4.30 million tonnes, down 14.0% year on year. Lower volumes of dry bulk, liquid bulk, sawn goods, wood pulp, paper and general cargo weighed on overall export performance. Only the “other goods” category recorded growth, increasing 17.9%.
Imports totaled 2.01 million tonnes, representing a 5.3% decline. Dry bulk imports increased 14.9%, while liquid bulk remained broadly stable with a 1.2% increase. However, lower volumes of raw wood and general cargo offset those gains. Imports of other goods rose 31.4%.
Container throughput reached 327,379 TEUs during the January–June period, a slight 1.0% decrease compared with the first half of 2025. The port also handled 1.22 million tonnes of transit cargo, down 28.1%, while coastal traffic increased 65.4% to 32,326 tonnes.
In June 2026 alone, the port handled 1.01 million tonnes of cargo. Exports accounted for 665,273 tonnes, while imports reached 349,567 tonnes. The port also processed 56,706 TEUs and welcomed 165 vessels during the month.
The latest figures highlight softer cargo volumes across several key commodity groups during the first half of the year, although container traffic remained relatively stable and imports of dry bulk and other goods continued to grow.
