Valenciaport awards contract for elevated seafront promenade

The Valencia Port Authority has awarded the contract for the refurbishment of the steel structure of the elevated seafront promenade in the La Marina area of the Port of Valencia.

The contract has been awarded to the joint venture SORIGUE ACSA CONSERVACIÓN DE INFRAESTRUCTURAS and ACSA OBRAS E INFRAESTRUCTURAS, with a budget of EUR 2,257,841 including VAT and an expected completion period of 15 months.

The works encompass cleaning, repair and treatment of the steel structure to improve long-term preservation, repair of the benches and pergola located at the end of the promenade near the port entrance, and improvements to the safety and functionality of the pedestrian walkway including upgrades to access stairways, railings and lighting.

The tender incorporates specific environmental conditions for the execution of works.

To encourage the use of renewable energy, the use of electricity generators and compressors powered by combustion engines will be avoided, and materials suitable for reuse must be managed by an authorised waste management operator.

The project forms part of a broader programme of port-city integration initiatives being undertaken or planned by the Port Authority in the Marina area, including improvements to the Customs Quay and the area surrounding the Clock Building, as well as the planned relocation of the former lighthouse.
